They are lovely cars Colin, just try and find a well-maintained and loved example that has had no expense spared on it - and have plenty of cheques in your cheque book! The issues I am aware of include the electronic damping actuators on the AMVAR equipped models. Sometimes these can fail causing a bumpy ride - tracking the issue can be a little involved. The other issue concerning the LDS tank exploding (as a result of not removing the LDS cap when raising and lowering the car with wheels suspended and unsupported) seems to happen more on the C6 - so be aware of leaks around this area.

The C6 has over 20 ECUs located about the car and similar to the C5 electronics can be a cause of some concern. Weak batteries can affect systems and on the C5 and C6 the economy modes can kick in and have been known to prevent tailgate / boot opening. The C6 had some issues on early models with water ingress to suspension ball joints and were replaced with a newer design from 2009 on.

According to Motoriety, of 560 C6 MOT tests, failure rates mostly concerned Suspension (28%), Tyres (23%), Brakes (20%) and Electrical equipment (18%).

Like anything, get the best model you can with afford with all the bills and a good dealer service history, and keep a few quid in the bank just in case! I nearly decided on a C6 a few years ago, but decided against it based on my research, my needs and the considerable ongoing costs if you don't do a lot of your own mechanics (where you can these days). Good luck with your search.

There are a few "Specialists" who have great knowledge about these cars....I would advise having one checked over BEFORE you buy it....

Where are you based in the UK.

Also, the C6 Owners have a facebook page and a web site: It is worth joining these.

Make sure you get a go in one as well, I thought I'd love the C6 but immediately upon entering one I knew it wasn't for me. The amount they cost to run I think you need to really like the car or it could be a mistake. It still makes my day actually seeing one on the road because of what it is but I don't desire one for myself at all.
