ZX Fuelsender

Our R reg ZX1.9TD fuelsender is giving false readings. When the tank is filled to the brim it shows full for a few miles and then drops down to 3/4 mark.
Whats the best test for this?[?]
If needed I have a K reg 1.4 petrol ZX which I assume has the same fuelsender in the tank?????????
I know that one is working so is it worth a swap???

If the sender makes the gauge drop noticeable after just a few miles - then I'd suspect the sender unit.
The sender unit should be the same from a 1.4 petrol - can't see why these should be different for different fuel types.

Sorry to say, that they are different on the diesel, and to make matters worse, there are three different types! :
