Re: Strong LEDs for reverse light?
i'd be weary of the promises on the Multiple led bulbs, they are certainly Brighter and give a clearer beam colour but overall effectiveness is not always that good, the range of the bulb has a more defined Cut off point compared to the std bulbs fade out, 6000k light is a Very bright white bulb, iirc the Std headlamp bulbs operate at 4300k, lower than 4000k is yellow, anything over 6000k turns bluer, 8000k is blue, popular with the boy racer brigade in hids, 10000k + ends up purple,
from experience with cheap led bulbs, they may have Many many led's but they do not last, technically the larger the led the brighter the light output,

Re: Strong LEDs for reverse light?
While LED's can be very bright, they do not actually throw much light on the ground. So, they make great warning lights but not so good for illumination.
However, some American suppliers list specific replacements for reversing light bulbs - not that they look any different!
I assume from the age of the vehicles you mention that the bulbs are capless, wedgies BUT if, by chance, they are conventional BA15's AND this is still unresolved, I have a couple you can play with - & see what you think.

Re: Strong LEDs for reverse light?
That's interesting. We have to open a gate with a combination lock at the end of a forest track to get in and out, at night we need the car lights to see what we are doing - or at least my wife does usually while I sit in the warm and dry
when I have driven through we rely on the light from the stop/reversing lights to be able to see the lock so possibly LED's would not be suitable.

For that sort of thing, take a tip from old school rally cars - & fit a foglight at the back.
