Clutch replacement

Unread post by renagade »

Do any members have any idea how much a clutch for my C5 x7 2011 1.6 e-hdi egs6 would cost just to buy not fitting?? Thanks in anticipation.

What about your Dual Mass Flywheel? When was this last changed? Usually a good idea to check this while you're at it. Here are the current Citroen prices for your car:
Citroen Clutch Kit: £336 Inc, VAT (Part Number: 2052 Z1)
Service Exchange Clutch Kit 85.28 Inc. VAT (Part Number: 2052 Z2)
Citroen DMF: £371.41 Inc. VAT (part Number: 0532 W4)

There are others out there in the market - but at least you have a comparison now against the originals.

That's a very reasonable price for the exchange clutch kit. I've never heard of clutches being an exchange item before. Is that all three pieces - plate, cover and release bearing?

exchange clutches used to be the norm back in the day, not always a great idea. The original clutches are made by valeo. Euro car parts and gsf stock genuine valeo parts, usually there is a discount code on the website reducing the price even further

£550 for clutch and flywheel at GSF - but you will be able to get at least 30% off that. Think mine came in at around £400 for the clutch parts when we had it done on the C4 last year - and that was a pukka clutch and OE sachs flywheel.

I was in the motor trade in the seventies and eighties and we neither used nor were offered reconditioned clutches. Now that I think about it I have this impression that recon clutches were a fifties thing for coil spring clutches.

Hi Guy's
Thanks for your input. Remember my clutch is for the automatic egs6 gearbox.

I remember reconditioned clutches in the '50s and also exchange brake shoes - how times have changed.

The parts quoted in my post are for your specific car Renegade - I had your VIN already from your previous posts.

Sorry for the late response Paul - been out.

It simply states Service Exchange Clutch Kit and is Part 1 in the diagram composing of A & B:
C5 X7 1.6 (Piloted Manual Gearbox) Clutch Kit
C5 X7 1.6 (Piloted Manual Gearbox) Clutch Kit

Still seems like a bargain to me.

Only two pieces though. There must be a release bearing of some type. Is this not needed normally?

This one is the piloted manual box, so slightly different I suspect.

Item C is the release bearing - it's an all in one release bearing and concentric slave cylinder.

There we go then - thought it had to be something with C - but the set-up is slightly different to mine, cheers Richard.

But not recommended to replace it at the same time as the other two items?
