"+20BHP" mods sold on EBAY

Unread post by Nikolaymk »

Does anyone have an idea how do the so called mods (sold for about £3.00 each on Ebay) work? Is it possible that a device for 3 quid can really increase a car's performance by a few BHP?

hi nik
the ones i've seen are nothing more than a resistor that wires in to the temp sensor/air flow meter
to kid the management system into thinking the engine is running cooler than it is
20bhp is a stupid claim
maybe what it should read is
stupid mod for your car
upto 20mpg less than you are doing now
engine worn out in 2-3 weeks due to all that wasted petrol wearing out the piston rings!!!!!!
and thinning out the oil leading to big end failier

sorry about the answer but please steer clear of gimmiks like these please these people should be banned off places like that

I can only agree with Neil -
Always steer clear of these gadgets - the only winner is the seller.

I dunno, there is a thread going on the Swedish/US Volkswagen (GTI) club which says that, at least on the VAG turbodiesels, you can fool the EMS into giving more fuel by fitting a resistor into the fuel-flow sensor circuit. Some guys have fitted potentiometers and have adjusted them to be just outside the black smoke region and claim measurable performance increases. So don't say it doesn't work until you've tried it!

That's the difference...Diesels don't suffer bore wear with excess fuelling, just smoke, unlike Petrols

Nisk,
Will you be trying this mod on your A4 ?. Sounds interesting and as long as its reversible and doesn't do any damage then its got to be worth a go.
