407 2.0 hdi belt or chain

Hi.
Can anyone confirm if my car has a timing belt, chain, and change intervals?
It is a 2005 1997cc hdi 407SW. It has done 130'000 miles.
I have searched already for the info, but there are so many conflicting answers, perhaps someone can help me out.

Stick your Vin up please and you'll get a far more accurate answer.

I'd think you have a belt on that engine.

Mistake in that VIN somewhere. 2.0 HDi (presume 136 BHP) is a belt cam engine - only chain cam engines in PSA cars are those borrowed from others - the 1.0 triple in the C1 (Toyota) and the BMW based 1.6 turbo petrol engine. My Pug book lists 140k/ 10 years for that engine; and my Citroen book 160k/10 years. Overdue I would think if it's not been done....

Hi.
There is no mistake in that VIN according to the French log book (re registered here a few years ago.)

That's not saying they have made an error with the paperwork. I have a Porsche 996, registered 1998, but it was entered 1989 on the log book, they didn't make them that year. Ill check with the car tomorrow.

It a cam belt DW10 2.0hdi they are all cambelt with 120k change intervals.

I have done them at 100k and the belt still looked new - however looks are not everything!

With bandying around all these figures, is everyone talking about the same units? - i.e. miles or kilometres.

I've often found different figures for cars of my own. I think the manufacturers start off really optimistic then drop the figure every couple of years until people stop returning cars with snapped belts. It's previously been noted on the forum that the belt manufacturers warranties can be substantially shorter than the car manufacturers recommendations and are worth taking into account.

When my 2005 2ltr C5 - same engine as the OP - had done 90000miles at 8 years old, I started to get a bit anxious about the condition of the belt. Fairly quickly I got the belt, pulleys and water pump changed.
