Xantia Screen washer pump not working

Post by jvwykes »

Hello Folks

Need some help with fault finding why my washer pump no longer works.

I've tested the pump connection to washer bottle using a known working pump.

Swapped the steering column switch for another, still nothing.

Wipers function

Fuse checked and OK

Any ideas what else to check, is there a relay hidden somewhere that could have failed?

S1 or S2 Xantia?

I can supply wiring diagrams as I've been here before...

I very much suspect you have a break in the wiring loom between the source of power, the switch and the motor... The diagrams will assist as they also have detailed loom (harness) wiring diagrams...

Before I can supply I need to know the series and preferably the RP Number/age of the car to ensure the right ones are supplied....

James, I'll dig out the diagrams as soon as I can. Shame it's not an S1 as I have those immediately available but for the S2 I need to fire up the scanner...

I'll get it done as soon as I can..

James, here are the diagrams:

S2 Wash Wipe Circuit

S2 Wash Wipe Harnesses

S2 Wash Wipe Locations

I trust they will help solve the problem...

Found the root cause.

Using the diagram I thought i'd start at the pump connector once more. This time I found 12V. Must have been slight corrosion on the terminals. Plugged in my spare motor and it burst into life. The original pump however has had its day. So thankfully no major strip down to find a broken wire, just old fashioned electrical tarnish
