Lucas mechanic fuel pump(DPC) - disassembly and timing

Post by yanivh »

Hi,

I have few question about the mechanic fuel pump fitted on berlingo 99 1.9D (WJZ).
Please have a look at the pictures.

1) I want to reseal few fuel pump made by by Lucas model R8445B350A/B.
Recently worked hard to learn how to dissemble it but.

Tried to remove the driveshaft timing gear (engine timing side) and
The gear is locked on to the Woodruff Key.

i have tryed to remove it using bearing separator using lots of force but it didn't worked.
Also having at my garage 20T shop press and i am not sure this is the way to release the gear in order to replace the seal behind
the timing cover (attached pictures),

Also need to remove remove the pump driveshaft.

2) How to measure the timing on the R8445B350B ?

I have some pump that i currently working on them.
First one is pump model R8445B350A and the second one model R8445B350B.

I see some difference at the top cover.
The hole at the top of the pump (governor lever) there is a hole to measure the timing
Of the pump using special tool and dial indicator.

On the R8445B350A model the is a bore and cover to work it but on the R8445B350B it doesn't have and it close from the factory.

Question is how to mesure the timing on the R8445B350B ?

Thanks all diesel experts
