OK, probably a daft question here, but...
The new (to me) Xantia VSX TD doesn't have the fast idle cable i'm used to, but the pump (Bosch, I think) has 2 electrical connections. ONe will be the shut-off solenoid; is the other one the ECU'able bit? There's a ECU-looking thing behind the engine bay relays (under the cover) - is this it?
If so, what's it doing on a 94 car?
Xantia TD - ECU or not?

IIRC there are also three electrical functions associated with the earlier pump, are there two connectors, if so one has three pins, two of them are for the stop solenoid, and one is for the device previously mentioned which is for canceling timing advance under certain light load conditions, the other connector has two pins and goes to a micro switch on the throttle lever.
There should still be a cable going to the cold start accelerator (fast idle) lever on the engine facing side of the pump.
Sometimes this type of pump has a different method of operating the cold start advance using the engines coolant, I've never seen it on a pump fitted to Citroen before though, its allways been a cable.
