Trouble callibrating steering angle sensor & esp sensor init - C5 II

Post by haydent »

Hi ive been getting into my steering wheel sensor that ive had the odd intermittent error from but mostly works. In the process of taking the column switch module off i pulled the whole thing apart, as i couldnt work out how to take the air bag connections off.

Any way ive gotten it back together after cleaning and not sure if its working or not.

I cant seem to get past the calibration stage. Ive never tried this before so not sure what is normal behaviour.

It fails calibration saying it could because of 3 possible reasons which i wont go into.

I also tried to initiallise my esp lateral movement sensor (and pressure sensor) but that does not happen either giving error 50AE

Now i noticed at rest, my car is showing -0.1m/s on the lateral movement, is anyone else's not 0 ? im wondering if this is stopping me from callibrating my wheel sensor, as it thinks the car is moving ?

Alternatively it could just be i didnt put the wheel sensor back together properly, im likely going to source a second hand one, as i think the original one had issues anyway, but im just getting in now whith this question in case i get that new one and cant callibrate it either.

Has anyone callibrated theirs with Lexia and C5 or similar, what procedure did you follow ?

On my old C5 whenever I had flattened the battery, for whatever reason, and got the Bong of Doom I usually had to reset the wheel alignment sensor.

I don't have the car now but from memory you need to find the area in the Lexia that deals with this. You then have to make sure that the wheel is in the position that the car will drive in a straight line and then "tell" the Lexia that it is now in the straight ahead position. And that's all it is.

If you've damaged something in the COM2000 unit that's a whole new world of problem I'm afraid.

Sound right from the instructions. Yeah Com2003 in my case, thanks for referring to it as that, that is another term i can search for. I don't think i damaged it , more might not have lined everything back up correctly. There's a few ways a few items could have gone back in, so will try them in different ways before giving up. Being unable to initialise the esp sensors was the other thing but they work at least....
