C5 Exclusive 2.0hdi 2009 EML on an P0238 faul code

Post by blizzard »

Hello ladies and gentelmans and have a Happy New Year in advance!!
I'm back with another absolutly annoying problem
I'll try to be short so here we are: C5 2.0hdi 2009, EML light on ... limp mode. Fault code is P0238 - short to positive, something else, OR high value boost pressure. What have we done so far:
- turbo removed and variable geometry cleaned - works fain
- MAP sensor replaced - no change
- Brand new egr valve
- DPF removed and cleand - makes no difference
- Brand new solenoid valve - makes no difference
PLEEEASE some light, ideas or anything that could help !!
Thank you
PS ... light still on the dash and fault code still present !!

Can you confirm you've had this tested with a Lexia and not a generic OBD code reader?

Some ?? to start.

Please post the Vin so people can check the cars "details"

? What did you read the code with ?
? Do you have a Lexia Diagnostic kit ?
? Have you tried to clear the codes via Lexia/Code reader ?

Hello and thanx for reply. The reading machine is a Snap on one ( don't know how good is though ). I haven't tried to clea the code via Lexia. VIN NO: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff].
Thank you again !

Can not do that I'm afraid. Has been done through a Snap on machine. Thanx

Thanxfor the info ... done now, you can delete the file.
One more thing, after the fault code has been deleted the car works fine until I'm accelerating hard eg. Overtaking, hilly roads and so on. So basically around 3000 rev. EML comes on and the car gets into limp mode ... interesting thing but I still have enough power to accelerate but with no boost.
Second thing ... do you have any sort of idea why my ambient light ( those one under the dash ... the amber ones )died suddenley. The fault code sais something like "unable to communicate with ambient light ecu " !! Is there any sort of such an ecu ???
Thanx again !!

Good morning everyone!
Car is still in the same situation. Fault code P0238 still there, EML light on the dash. If I clear the code, as soon as I reach 3000 rev/min everything comes back: code, EML and limp mode. Don't know what to do next. And on top of that the ambient light died suddenly: unable to communicate with ambient light ECU !?!?
Any help would be much appreciated !!
Thanx

Hello again and I'm happy to say Problem solved. After few months of continuously issues with the problems described above, I am happy to say EVRIKAAAA. Now, please, don't shoot me: the problem was caused by the MAP sensor which was not the genuine one and I do believe it was faulty or decalibrated. I've replaced this bloody sensor with a genuine part and the car is now back and running in perfect condition. If you request the all story, please let me know and I'll be more than happy to share it with you guys!
P.S. try not to use a tuning box in any circumstances ... may cause aditional issues and lots of pennies to sort it out afterwards !
By the way ... If anyone in Norwich area needs a Lexia ... I've got one in perfect working order, from EasyDiagnostics, and I'm more than happy to help !!
Cheers
