Cabin heater (matrix) and dismantling process

Unread post by Xsarus »

Hi to all !

I hope that someone can help me out with this because i can not find right solution.
I have dismantled almost everything regarding the removal of dashboard but i can not pull it out.
The screws that are placed under motor of windscreen are "removed" so the dashboard should easily come out but if i pull it it feels like that the upper part of dash board is still connected somewhere. I dont see any screws from inside so i have no clue what is holding the board.

Picture in attachment should describe the problem in more detail.

Any help/suggestion is more then welcome !
Btw. Xsara 1999, 1,4 i SX, problem was the leaking of matrix and smell in the cabin.

I suspect the bottom part of the windscreen sealant may be bonded to part of the dash top.

Is that a tweeter speaker at top of the dash board near the end? It might prise out revealing a screw.

I did it !. There was one additonal screw under heating system in the middle of the board.
Now the fun part... How to change the matrix ?

I forget to write that i have air conditioning so i guess i have to dismantle this before i can pull the matrix out ...What would be the simplest way to do this ?

I dismantle the part for air conditioning and now i can not pull the tubes from matix :-)
It looks like that they are "sealed" because i can not move it (not 1 mm ).
There is a security clip that need to be pressed but like i wrote, there is no way to pull it out...
Do i need to twist it somehow ( tubing are binded together so i dont thinkt that i can do anything else except to pull )...

Those plastic connectors are the same as used on Xantias and other PSA vehicles. They are often very difficult to remove, and easy to break if you pull with too much force on the wrong angle.

A trick is to thread a piece of string through and pull on that while pressing the clip and wiggling the connector. They come apart more easily when they are hot, but it is a bit late to run your engine now...

I wonder if pouring hot water on the connector might help? Would a full kettle do?
