307 HDI 90...ENGINE Swapping

Post by Stickyfinger »

OK..on the subject of the 307 engine with the HG gone, engine pulled....not a good engine

a second 307, engine IS good, engine has been pulled out today.

One engine has a differing fuel system....different injectors and fuel pump/system

Can they just be swapped with the fuel lines connected from the old one or will the Rail/Pump etc need swapping as well ? (not a timed pump I take it)

Vin Numbers :

Old Dead engine car : VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]............( from Pug Service: INJECTION ASSOCIATED VARIANT MOUNTING BOSCH HYBRID )
The good engine cars vin : VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]............( I have no access to Pug Service to find out)

Servicebox says for the donor:

INJECTION ASSOCIATED VARIANT SIEMENS ASSEMBLY

You will need to change over the HP pump, rail, pipes, pressure sensor and injectors; and probably the fuel filter as well.

thought so.....cheers

Two questions...
Will it need reprogramming the injectors and the pump etc with Lexia ?
What about a fuel tank lift pump ?

If you're swapping all the parts from the old engine onto the new engine then nothing should need coding.

The in tank pump is just a pump with the level sender on it so should be fine.

Don't put the ignition on until everything is swapped over and connected up so that it can't go into fault mode. Pumps on these aren't timed as they just deliver a high pressure to the rail and the injectors do the rest under the instruction from the ECU.

Head gasket, leaking sump, cooling pipes.....was just easier to pull it out and swap all the gubbins over as James had a spare engine:

Belts and tensioners on the old engine were new 3 weeks ago (swapped), the clutch was new on the donor engine 6 months ago....so box & engine were swapped , new water pump (£19.00), injector seals washers and that was it....very cheep :)

Anybody need the injectors etc ??
