Hdi 2002 mk1 autobox fault

I have a mk1 hdi 2.2 auto sitting outside the house its a very clean and tidy car but the auto gearbox has an issue.
It will drive so far then it goes in to limp mode, it make a horrid noise when you switch the engine off. I was told it's a bearing in the converter that's gone. I am not so sure I am thinking its a blocked filter or something. I say this as the converter seems to be working hard at idle as you can hear it and after a short time I here the cooling fan cut in even when the engine is stone cold. The noise when you turn it of sounds almost as if the converter is loaded up to it max. The thing is it drives and changes gear fine it has loads of power it has to be something simple.


If there's anyone who likes to play with the autobox issues give me a shout.

It's a real crime to leave this car sitting there on the drive any longer.
