500 rpm Increase

Post by shelleyamy »

Hello
Peugeot 308 2009 2.0 HDi engine (RHF)

This happened irregularly on longer trips when engine was nice and warm, now its permanent.

Engine ticks over and sticks at 1300 rpm until you touch the brake pedal, it then drops to the normal 800 rpm, until you release the brake pedal.
Stays the same even when driving, 1300 rpm.
Checked (as far as i can see) no vacuum leaks that are obvious, and it feels electrical, as its even very light pressure on the pedal.

Can anyone think of something that would initiate a 500 rpm increase?

Thanks
Mike

Have you checked the throttle cable adjustment clip is set correctly so there is a small amount of play in the cable ? If the cable was pulled tight without a little bit of slack it would not return to idle reliably.

They use a cable going to the Throttle Potentiometer.
