Xantia2 v6 hydractive question

Post by grizzlycx »

Good morning All

Can anyone tell me the difference between power steering pressure switches 4015.08 and 4015.09?

This connects the steering to the ecu specifically for Hydractive autoboxes, and are obviously different pressure ratings. My friendly Citroen dealer tells me that they have sold 100 of 4015.08 with a white identifier ring and none of 4015.09 with a violet ring in the last year! They also fit the C4, C5, Xsara and XM2 v6 apparently.

Mine has blown apart leaving a large pool of LHM at the most inconvenient time, that'll teach me to use the car!
My brother-in-law has a pristine MV Agusta F4S sitting in his dining room - I may have to follow his example. With the Xantia not my Honda CBR1000F of 1988 with 11,000 miles on the clock - still good for 165mph and massive comfort - I do love old machinery!!

I presume that the different colour switches have different operating pressures.

The switch in question has nothing to do with the transmission or suspension, they were also fitted to cars with manual transmission, and to other PSA models with different engines and transmissions.

The purpose of the switch is to send a signal to the engine ECU so that the engine idle speed is increased slightly when the steering pump is working hard, perhaps to increase slightly the amount of steering assistance available for parking manoeuvres.

It is quite rare (but not unknown) for them to fail and leak.
