2011 c5 e-hdi egs6 throttle pedal

Post by renagade »

Hi everyone

very pleased so far with my 2011 plate C5 x7 110 e-HDI egs6 auto, but concerned that the pedal seems so low in relation to the brake. This wasn't the case in the 2009 c5 x7, and seems to have safety implications. Does anyone know the correct position for the pedal, if this isn't it, and is it easily adjustable?

The Accelerator on these X7s are not actually mechanical. They are essentially a potentiometer - see picture below. So there is a preset range of movement and a 'kickdown' zone to override the Speed Limiter function and for rapid acceleration on an auto. There really won't be any mechanical adjustment on these - there may be a very small amount of adjustment - but this would affect the information being sent to Engine ECU / BSI if altered - so unless it is faulty I would leave it. If these go, it is a complete replacement unit.

Hi
Many thanks for the advice, which I will take.Don't like playing with things I don't understand. While I have you , I got into my car 2011 1.6 e-hdi egs6 and started the engine and read a book while waiting for the boss, when we fastened the seat belts and I moved the gear selector to R to move backwards and the service light came on a message telling me the auto door lock had malfunctioned and the car would not go in forward or reverse. I switched off the ignition and opened and close the drivers door and switched the ignition on again and the car went into revers and the forward and we drove off. Now I know these c5 x7 are full of electronic gear I just hope I have not bought a lemon.

Something that you might want to consider is a BSi reset. Sometimes a system can glitch, and a proper shutdown/restart can help flush these out (although it would not clear out a true fault);

Yes the X7 does go mad at you if you attempt to drive off without battening down the hatches! Just make sure there is nothing interfering or catching near the boot / tailgate seal - normally it tells you which door or if it's the boot isn't closed properly too.

I sold my 1.6Hdi, Egs, B7 to a Citroen garage for something very similar. Sometimes, you would move the gear lever into drive, or reverse and the car would not move, it was back and forth to my Citroen garage for a updates and all sorts of diagnostics, they even replaced an earth strip on the gearbox and that did not cure the problem, I know of one other car with the same problem.
What would happen is if you started the car before it woke up properly you would trigger the fault.

I can not find my thread but this one explains the problems.
