Difference between 8HX and 8HZ engines.

Unread post by xsaras4ever »

Hello to all.

Does anyone know of the differences between the 8HX and the 8HZ engines.

The 8 is for 1.4 and the H is for Hdi. What does the X or Z mean ?

Thanks in advance.

For the Xsara:
the 8HZ is the 1.4 HDi (DV4TD)
the 8HY is the 1.4 16V HDi (DV4TED4)

The 8HX and 8HZ are both 1.4 HDi engines, but the Timing Belt roller and tensioner roller torques are different and they both have different oil capacities between the min/max levels and also different dipstick designs from the docs - there's probably some other differences buried in there... :-D
