No sound from indicators - [SOLVED]

Post by osx »

After a Lexia session I noticed the absence of any sound when using the indicators. I did change a few settings but can't recall anything to do with the indicators. If i "prepare the car for customer" will this revert to factory settings?

That is only for setting up any customer options / accessories / preferences depending on equipment and won't have anything to do with the indicators. I always take a printout of the existing values before I change anything just in case, and 'map' my way around once before I change anything.

It would help if you also mentioned what settings you changed, as some of the settings have consequences on other systems. More importantly, some options must be configured to certain values - despite occasionally contradicting what one thinks they should be set to; in some cases certain functions are controlled by other systems, so changing a value will cause it to malfunction or directly impact another system. You really need to be careful here

Which section were you in - BSI Configuration? If you can remember the section roughly, and post up your VIN, and tell me what you were attempting to accomplish / change, I might be able to tell you what should be entered as per your vehicle.

This should only be enabled if you have the MDS module. Sounds like you may have changed some settings for the audio equipment, telematic unit or services module. As per previous post, if you want some help I'll need your VIN and then I may be able to tell you the settings that need to be set in these sections based on your vehicle specs.

It's been years since I was last able to enjoy driving a car with silent indicators. You lucky fella!
Last one was a 1960 Rover 3-litre (P5). Indicator noise would have spoilt the gentle lap of sherry on the drinks tray.

I'm Sure this came up before; somebody changed something and then it stopped the indicator tell tale noise. I have a suspicion it was vborvic, which means it might not be there any more since he took the hump and deleted most of his posts....

Dream on!
If you were a dealer and cocked it up, then they would simply do an automatic configuration from their servers based on the spec and database records. Unfortunately..... say no more.

Give me a second to get the info off... I need to call up your specs, find the correct audio unit and then dig into the configuration options to ensure you have these set correctly.

I don't think my indicators make a noise - probably drowned out by Samantha Fish :)

F044 - You dont have the HiFi amp fitted - so did you change this to yes?

Ok, so I've sent you an email with a PDF document. Start from Section 6.2 and check all the parameters are correct - again, I have to stress that where there is a (2) shown in the tables in the PDF against an option you MUST configure it to the default entry.
Let us know how you get on.

Ok,well that's good that the errors have gone now. We are looking to access some archived material on the Forum. When this is complete, I may be able to locate the article and pinpoint the specific area, which may help and avoid the painful route. I'll keep you posted Nik, bit I would leave it there for now.

Thanks. I would be really surprised if the sound came back after activating the AM waveband (had deactivated it last year ;-))
