Fitted powerflex lower engines mount

Post by Chriz1 »

I've fitted a powerflex lower engine mount to my 206 hid today because the engine would rock on and off throttle quite badly, it seems to have cured this doc happy days
The only problem now is that the car vibrates quite badly at idle..
Will this get less as it wear a bit?

I would not think so. The reason for them is to absorb those vibrations, you have fitted items that do not absorb the vibrations as much as the OEM ones.

Can I ask why you decided on stiff bushes rather than replacing with OEM ones ?

Purely because it was easier to fit not having too remove the driveshaft and getting an OEM bush pressed really

I had a solid mount on my 205 GTI and it was like sitting on top of the washer when sat in traffic or waiting at the lights. It annoyed so much that I put a normal bush in the mount, but rotated it 90 degrees to stop the engine moving as much.

They do bed in but they take a very long time, and it wont be much better when it does. It was designed as it was for a reason.

People just don't realise that most of these "go faster goody`s" are designed purely for competition use.
Back in the 90`s we used to build 205 GTI rally cars with hard rubber everything, rose joints, stiff shocks, thick torsion bars etc etc. They would fly over gravel stages and stick to tarmac stages like glue.Driving on road sections was terrible, everything rattled, vibrated and was so noisy the only way to speak was via earphones.
