307 HDI head gasket

Unread post by Stewart(oily) »

Good afternoon all, I am charged with repairing an 03 2.0 HDI head gasket, I am familiar enough with most of the job but the engine appears to be under the dashboard on this model, does the head come off normally on these, presumably the turbo and manifolds remain in situ? any tips appreciated. If you remove the wipers, windscreen scuttle, plastic cross piece (which may not be as easy as it seems - on mine when it had to come out to get access to the top of the strut one of the stupid cage type captive nuts wasn't any more and I had to cut it off with an angle grinder - along with a good part of the plastic!) and sound deadening; then the top of the engine becomes much more accessible. I'll have a look and see what, if anything, Haynes says about it later.

Thanks Richard, I am beginning to see the light, I located a Haynes manual online and I am in the process of educating myself.
