2009 Peugeot 308 1.6vti antifreeze

Unread post by mookev »

Just been to Peugeot main dealer [emoji22] for antifreeze to top up. Told I have red and should have blue . Told red is too alkaline for aluminium radiators and to change asap. Car dealer serviced by either Peugeot or Vauxhall full stamps before I bought it. What colour is your antifreeze please and thoughts?

Colour may not be the be-all and end-all to identify which anti-freeze you have fitted but it probably means it's the longer life OAT type. Whoever told you it is too alkaline is talking BS and you should avoid them in future for telling such porkies.

My 2003 C5 had red OAT anti-freeze as does my new 2013 C5. Whilst they are both HDi engines and not petrol I can't see that being relevant.

Are you sure that's exactly what they said? You certainly shouldn't mix old style blue/green with red - that can cause sludge which can clog up the radiator etc.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.
