My Cars:

Bitter Sweet

Post by lazza »

HI All

Well after all my love and labour with the gearbox removal, oil seal replacements, CV boots, pump adjustments etc the results are bitter sweet. My car passed its MOT (well apart from the tyres, which i knew and here you just have to take it back in 2 months to show you've new ones)- so that's fantastic! I can spend some money now and it's not throwing it down a trou noir.

However, when I took the gearbox off, you may remember I decided to change the gearbox input shaft seal whilst at it. Well, not sure what went wrong but the gearbox seems to be leaking oil (it's v clear oil so can only be gear oil i presume) from under the flywheel. The only explanation I can think of is that the seal is a bad fit. So I'm going to have to take the whole couilles (excuse my french) off again!

Before I go about it, does anyone have any idea of what I might have done wrong with the gearbox input shaft seal, or sleeve ?? Anyone else had this problem themselves before??

Any suggestions/sympathy appreciated
