Rubber Pipe

Hi, I need to replace the rubber pipe that connects the fuel pump to LHM reservoir, mine is now showing it's age! is this a citroen only pipe, or can I buy else where? if so where? cheers Terry.

Petrol-quality 'rubber' fuel pipeline will be proof against LHM, from any motor factor. Use a thick-wall pipe, like the original, as the pipe is under suction. Also use hose clips that evenly squeeze the hose all round and don't distort it, or there could be troublesome air ingress. Jubilee clips not the best for this job.

Fill the new pipe with LHM before attaching it to the reservoir, to avoid getting lots of air into the pump. (Perfectionists will relax the pressure relief bolt on the pressure regulator by a turn-and-half before starting up the engine. That way aerated fluid is sent back to the reservoir, and not round the system. Let engine run for a minute or so, snd retighten while still running.)

I presume you mean hydraulic pump to LHM reservoir? Look for SAE 100R6, that is a high temperature, textile braided oil return hose.

states for low pressure though, given the pipes under suction will it still be ok?

Low pressure in hydraulic terms, it works at upto 400 PSI. On the Citroen system there is relatively little suction on that side.

Thick wall needed though, to ensure pipe does not fold/collapse when taken round a tight bend - if any.

That's why many of the tubes and hoses are moulded to shape. It is difficult to replace those with plain types. Steel coil to fit inside is available to prevent collapse of hose and tube where a tight bend rad is required, or you could make your own of course.
