Xantia S2 CD changer?

Unread post by HDI »

Is the wiring for the CD changer in place in Xantia S2's that did not have it fitted at the factory? Asking because I'm buying an LX spec Xantia HDI which doesn't have a changer, but I have a changer and head unit from an Exclusive spec Xantia and would like to fit that.

Generally, I don't think so... Best to assume not...

The S1 CD Changer wiring is part of the main loom and very difficult to split out... I think the S2 cd changer wiring is entirely separate and easier to remove/replace...

Hope so!

I remember stripping the CD changer out of an S2, and the cable is separate all the way to the head, so is unlikely to be factory fitted except with a changer.

My SX Xantia had the CD Changer factory fitted and this was located in the boot on the driver's side wall - so the wiring for that travelled all the way to the front as noted ^^.

While it is possible that an SX variant could have the wiring in place (it is for some of the other optional extras, such as heated powered front seats), it is not definite. It is unlikely that an LX variant would have that wiring though, as it was a much more basic version, with less in the options list.

Standard kit on the SX model over the LX was the CD Changer, Rear Electric Windows, Automatic Front Rain Sensitive Wipers, Twin Electrically Heated Door Mirrors on the electrical side and although not relevant, Rear Spolier, Alcantara Upholstery & Front Armrest.

Thanks guys. Don't think I can bothered to run the cable for the changer then, it would also mean removing it from the SX, hmm, don't think so! Would I assume correctly that the head unit from the SX will fit straight in? The one in this LX is crap!!

Yes, fully interchangeable but I'd go for the CD changer - running the cable is not that hard..

I would but all my sounds are on CD or Vinyl and I don't have a smart phone or similar so I'd have to transfer to PC then stick. Whereas I have a whole load of stuff already on copy CD's for the car. Just another time thing.

Just exchanged the head unit for the one out of the demised SX. The CD changer cable is not present :( Also, the head unit is not fully compatible, as in the connector for the steering wheel controls is different on the SX head unit, so I will be without the steering wheel controls. Strange considering they are both 2000 MY. I'll check the Exclusive head unit I have tomorrow.
