Hi all, another problem with my 406 unfortunately...
Recently while driving my blower fan stopped working and won't turn back on. I've checked all the fuses and I don't seem to have any blown. Additionally the AC compressor no longer clicks on, presumably because the fans aren't spinning up. Where should I start looking for a diagnosis? The car is a 2002 2.0 HDi with climate control.

Re: 406 blower fan not working
Update: I ran Peugeot Planet diagnostics and got the following fault: "Remote permanent fault. Blower unit repeat voltage. Short circuit or open circuit"
What could cause these symptoms and this fault? The actuator test on the heater motor also yielded nothing.

Re: 406 blower fan not working
I checked all the fuses I could find so unless I'm missing one somewhere, I don't think a fuse is at fault. What's weird is that I found a voltage at the connector to the blower fan with the engine running, so I swapped out the fan with an identical one from ebay, and still no joy. Bit of a frustrating problem...

Re: 406 blower fan not working
Hi,
I was wondering if you ever got to the bottom of this as I have the same problem with the exact same fault code. I am also getting 14v at the plug but the motor will not turn. I have taken the motor out and its ok.
Hope you have a solution and its one you could share.
Thanks

Re: 406 blower fan not working
Hi, sorry for the late reply, yes I did fix the problem!
I changed out the fan resistor pack (seems more like a digital fan controller actually). It's hidden in the passenger footwell near the fan, with a large heatsink and a number of wires on a connector, one of which goes to the blower motor itself. The heatsink had actually gone live at 12v in my case, so you could check for that if you have the exact same mode of failure.
Hope that helps!
