110 hdi fast idle

Post by c.morewood »

As a consequence of the failed EGR removal, since the car came back, she's been idling at about 1100-1150 rpm most of the time.. occasionally dropping to just below 1000 but never to the 830rpm that she used to idle at.
I've checked the throttle cable and thats fine ..plenty of slack and doesn't appear to be kinked as far as i can see as the throttle cable action is nice and smooth.
The only other thing I can think of is the TPS might have got moved/knocked when the engine was dropped.
Any other ideas welcomed.
Thanks.

TPS is easy to check on the Lexia to rule that in or out, but why did the egr removal fail?

Sorry should have finished this thread off..just when,I tried everything, I noticed I could lift up the pedal and the idle rpm, would reduce to,normal..so this is obviously cable related...so I traced the cable comparing the 2 cars and found that id got an extra sharp bend where it should have been a gentle curve. As for the egr. Apparently one bolt head is easy to access and the other is only accessible with a spanner..thats the side with the rounded head.. Now thinking whether to keep the egr or take the bolt head off and put a blank in its place.

Ahh,re the cable, yes that makes sense!
Ta for the egr info, interested as considering de-egr'ing the 110 lump in the Xsara, just haven't had chance yet to take a proper look (what with the clutch change, gearbox change x2, alternator change and flywheel pulley change... (just finished that one 5mins ago))
Cheers
