Fuel filler behind rear number plate.

Unread post by Paul-R »

One of the guys has just asked, as I am the font of all Citroen knowledge (fools), if there was a Citroen in the 60s or 70s which hid its fuel filler behind the rear number plate.

I said I didn't know but I did have a vague memory of one of my father's cars, a late 50s / early 60s Ford Consul, having one. I'm not sure that's even correct but I'm throwing the floor open to everyone to contribute.

I need all information by mid-afternoon as I work in a school and we finish for the summer today.

Ready, set, GO...

Well, looking at the new Ciitroen Origins website, and only looking from the 1960s & 70s as specified, there's the Mehari below - but as for behind the number plate, not many places to put one! I suppose if you decided to stick the number plate over it, then it would qualify...... : :-D

Thanks Marc

I think that my friend was mistaken and he was thinking of some Fords of the time.

That's good to know. Accords with my memory as well.

Wasn't there a Renault that had the fuel filler behind the number plate? Maybe not

Thanks, I just spend over an hour on that citroen origins site! Some nice details on there although with all that awesme 360 degree action and sounds no DS or SM? seems a bit odd? The DS is the ultimate Citroen line from which everything else is based! (IMHO)

Yes - great to have it - although there are a few other models missing too - they've gone straight to the C5 X7 - would of been nice to have the earlier models for completeness - but given how long it is taking to load up already, maybe that's a big ask! Better than nothing though - unless they want to forget about the earlier models within a range because of all the bugs! :-D

Ha, yes I thought it was my browser.. maybe it is my browser. Either way it's pretty neat with the 360deg interiors on the CX, BX GS etc, the C10 prototype is interesting to see as well though I really like the C60 prototype that's also missing. I like the 'start the engine' key thing too (correct key for each!) but would be good if they said what engine you were hearing. I think they miss out the DS etc because they still eclips the new cars!
