c5 sun visor

Unread post by sonoramicommando »

Series 1 C5 has two sun visors - a big one that can be flicked sideways and a small one that can be used when the big one is used on the side.
what do people make of this set up? is it a good idea? or a good idea but not terribly well executed (my opinion)? or plain stupid?

Never used mine in almost ten years of C5 ownership.
the second visor is a bit small to be much use anyway.

Mine doesn't have that set up but it's probably ok, if the sun's at the side you don't need much of a visor at the front. :)

Can I say I thought, and continue to think, it's a brilliant idea. It fills in the gap when the sun is at an awkward angle between the front screen and the dropglass.

I was extremely disappointed that the X7 has done away with this idea. I've even taken the secondary visors out of the Mk1 I'm breaking to see if there's any way I can engineer them in to X7.

It was also extremely useful for holding all the loose bits of paper, bills and paper crap tidily out of the way. That aside, I did actually use mine foe example when driving down the M4 when the sun was on the right - just unlclipped and swung the visor over, leaving the smaller one in place. Worked a treat!

My point exactly!

I like the idea but could have been better - if no other Citroen had adopted it since C5, that's a shame.
I think the smaller one could have been a bit bigger, which would have made it a lot more useful. Also the bigger one (or sun visors in general) when positioned to side is never long enough to cover the entire length of the side window, which is one of my pet peeves (maybe it's because of my heavily reclined driving position).
I always wondered why all the visors swing down as opposed to sliding type (like on some buses) - maybe it's legal requirements but I think sliding type would work better.

It's quite handy when your bearing is constantly changing, often is the case when driving home from work in city traffic.
