Xantia LX vs SX

Unread post by Dommo »

Hi guys

I've been wondering what the difference between the S2 LX and SX spec is beyond the obvious? The differences I know of include:

Rear electric windows
Heated mirrors
Auto wipers

Are any of these things retrofittable if you have a donor car? Is the loom the same for example?

Thanks very much. Dom.

different interior too. think the LX and SX both have the silver dash trim though. don't think they have aircon (think thats an SX standard thing)

erm, not much else other than what you mentioned, the passenger mirror is electric! even on the S1 it just boils down to mirrors and rear electrics.

The Series 2 LX (otherwise known as Forte) did have air con (well, mine did).

There's an LX S2 I'm looking at, looks immaculate with the 110 HDi engine and A/C which supposedly works. Sounds promising. My thinking is that if the loom is the same I could swap the electric bits over to it. Anyone else know if that is possible?

And yes stu, as far as I understand it Forte is LX, I'd imagine Desire means SX? And Exclusive is VSX, don't think there's another version of VSX besides the S1 Athena like mine?

Thanks chaps

I think (don't quote me on this) most of the S2's have the loom there for everything. Seems daft but makes sense from a manufacturing point of view as theres less variations to produce. I found the wiring in mine for loads of stuff (automatic gearbox lights, heated seats, some other stuff i have no idea plugs into :rofl2: ) so it should be an easy job. Swap the interior out for a nicer one and you'll have a decent motor!

Auto front Wipers
Electrically heated and adjustable twin Door mirrors
Electric rear windows
Body coloured rear spoiler (saloon)
Velour Alcantara upholstery
CD Autochanger
Front Central armrest.

As for the looms, can't help you there.

I believe (but did not have need to prove it) that the SX version has the extra wiring loom. I have heard of somebody managing to fit leather seats with the electrics, and they only needed to fit the relevant fuses for them to work.

It would make sense to have a basic loom and then another for the SX and up James as they share the same SX enhancements as you say. I suppose one way would be to check the roof console for the Auto wiping sensor wires as the easiest way.
