no abs self test, but abs works...

Post by chinkostu »

Funny one this guys, i had an issue with the abs kicking in at low speeds so pulled fuses and disabled it. At first this kicked the light on, then after the battery died once it went off. Now i've since sorted the issues and replaced the fuses but the light doesnt come on to self test anymore.

The abs does however work, i got it to kick in on a wet road checking it!

Now seeing as the light not working is an MOT fail i'd rather try and get it going again!

Well, the first thing that could be worth checking is the light bulb.

Thats a good point. Being an X1 though means taking the wheel off!!!

Light definately worked beforehand though!!

Ouch! In that case I would replace EVERY light bulb in the dashboard. OK, that is about 40 of the little sods, but (assuming you test the bulbs first) that will be something that you won't need to do for a few more years.

Gives me a reason to sort the one for the sidelight telltale that comes on with a thump :rofl2:

If it isn't that though....

Figure its worth a massive thanks to james here. Bit of a late bump like, have literally today had the cluster out to see if the rev counter is a dodgy connection on the dash end and took the time to check the abs bulb. You guessed it, blown! Have robbed the one from the hopeless water in diesel warning and the abs light is restored!
