remote start for c5 x7

Post by renagade »

Hi Guy's and Gall's
I was sat outside this shop yesterday jut have a smoke when with no one about this car at the side of me started itself and was ticking over when this guy came out of the shop and drove off. Now then I see this as a good gadget to have in very hot weather when you can start your car from within sight and the ac will cool the car down and vice a versa in winter the heater would warm the car. Also how cool would I look .
What do you guy's think (apart from call me a plonker )
There are so many roads to travel but so little time, (Paul Cofield )

So, the actual question is ... ? Whether this makes sense or whether it is doable on the X7?

EDIT: On another note, why are you digging up 2 year old threads to write your comments in?

Not sure if you're referring to a WEBASTO unit? But I'm not sure on the legalities of having a running car with no driver in control! IF it's the WEBASTO unit, I'm sure they just use the car's fuel supply to start the unit independently - which is not the actual car starting AFAIK.

There are actually cars that can be remotely started as a serial equipment, and I don't see any legality issues with that ... if by any chance the car would be in any other mode than P (or N in case of the manual) and without the handbrake engaged, the remote start wouldn't start the car, simple as that.

We're slightly different here in the UK Vab, we have a law against idling called 'quitting': :-D

Ha ha. The man in the article is a pillock. Why do people argue with the police? It never ever does any good. Smile, say please and thank you, and he'd have got off with a warning.
