c5 radio sat nav issues.
hello my name is billy and I have been browsing this site for a while. After reading some of the posts on here and seeing the wealth of knowledge and information, I thought I might see if anyone can help me with the c5 problems.
I bought this 2007 c5 vtx+ estate a little while ago as spares or repair. The problem I have is the radio or sat nav does not work, neither does the reversing sensors or air con. I have checked the appropriate fuses in the glove box identified by the handbook. I have also done a bsi reset as per the forum but that has not made any difference. There are two warning lamps on the dash. engine management and esp I think.
I have taken the radio out and I see that the two big connections are not plugged in to the radio. They have like blue "caps" in them ! All the other ones can be plugged in. I am wondering if they have had an after market radio fitted and just plonked this one back in.
Any help would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance. Fingers crossed. billy

Re: c5 radio sat nav issues.
It's quite possible they put an aftermarket unit and put the original Head Unit back in afterwards - your Head Unit is also the interface that can turn on and off some vehicle functions (i.e. rear wipe in reverse gear, guide me home lighting, etc.) as well as set the date, time and other audio funtions etc. Can you post or PM your VIN so we can see what audio unit was originally fitted. I suspect you will still need to get a Lexia on the vehicle to check what is happening in more detail, but a good start is getting the block connector put back on for sure.

Re: c5 radio sat nav issues.
The VIN doesn't actually help us unless we can see what you currently have (or don't have) ... are you sure the car actually had the CD changer under the seat, they're actually a rare add-on equipment (the cables are there in most of the car trims, in case you want' to add it additionally)

Re: c5 radio sat nav issues.
Sorry Billy - forgot to post back! Billy has the RT4 System with Clour Screen. - Should be this one - can you clarify?
Once you've got it all hooked back up, you'll need to get a Lexia hooked up to it to interrogate the Audio ECU. The Audio ECU (accessed via the Lexia) will have configuration parameters for:
Then on top of that there are the customisation options you can configure (without the Lexia), such as rear wipe in reverse gear, boot locking option, Guide me home lighting, auto headlamps etc.,
Also, they often fitted the CD changer metal harness under the seat, but this didn't mean they always fitted the units - as depending on the exact one you have, some use a Hard Disk, so may never of been fitted.

- Air Conditioning Option (Present / Absent)
- CD Changer Option
- Display of Ext Temp
- Audio System Option (Absent / Present) - This informs the Multi Function Screen that an Audio system is present & needs this info to allow the display of the audio system data
- Trip Computer Option
- Control of the Multifunction screen by the steering wheel radio control and the type of connection to the Remote control

Re: c5 radio sat nav issues.
Have you had a squiz through the Forum members list who have Lexias that offer to help out? I think there's a map so you can see who's nearest to your location. If there is anyone, send them a Private Message and contact them directly. Otherwise the main dealers apply their hourly rate - circa £90 an hour!

Re: c5 radio sat nav issues.
The blue bolts prevent the connectors from falling out ... you can pull them out easily, but unless you write down the color coding beforehand, don't do it
Re: c5 radio sat nav issues.
oh ok. leave them alone then ! thanks
Re: c5 radio sat nav issues.
Hi, thanks for all the replies, but i am still wondering if it has power to it. Or how can i check. Or does it need a lexia check ?? Thanks

Re: c5 radio sat nav issues.
Ok a little more detail might help us, we can't see what's happening remember!
Did you connect the plugs at the back of the unit back in?
Is there anything on the display (Multifunction screen)?
Is there any power or lights on the head unit?
Have you checked the fuse (in passenger glovebox fusebox IIRC)?
Is there anything at all on the Multifunction screen?
Obvious, but have you pressed in the top left hand round button to switch it on?
Failing all of this, yes a Lexia will be next to see what is or isn't happening
