Door Strap

Post by froggy »

Hi, I need to place the door check strap on my wife's Peugeot 306. How do you fit the arrester pin? It looks like a roll pin, not sure how fit it! cheers Terry.

if its like the one on my 405, its in two sections. An inner pin and an outer collar, back the inner pin off then fit the outer collar into the recess in the strap. Bang the inner down, with a fairly small hammer to suit the limited access.

....or just cheat & use a bolt, double-nutted one end

Its just a roll pin and it just taps straight in.

Note if the checkstrap has moved right into the door its usually worn out, you can sometimes get it to work again but replacement is the normal fix.

If its just the pin then the above (bolt would work too but can wear the arm a bit quicker) :)
