You guessed it! I have a new old stock remote programmed to the car but with no key blade with it and an old one complete with original key blade. I thought the path of least resistance would be to simply swap them over but looking at the little rivet/ dowell thing I wonder if it's removeable/ reuseable ? and if so, how is it best pressed out as I thought it would wreck the plastic
Anyone done it?

I don't think it is reusable, but it was (until a couple of years ago) possible to get the rivet kit from Citroen.

Drill the rivet out carefully. If you are not bothered about the old case then it might be possible to prise the rivet apart.

Re: Xantia key fob blade swap
Cheers, I should say that I have not tried the original key blade in the door or ignition - been using one of the 'spare' keys for the ignition. I might check it isn't really worn first and then maybe get a blank cut, then find a rivet kit.

If you look up that part number on Google (type Citroen as well,. There's a few in stock and they're about £2.

Re: Xantia key fob blade swap
I have successfully re-used the rivet on several occasions by prising it out (bend the ears of the fob outwards about 2mm to get it started). The bronze spring does eventually wear out though, and I think the rivet kit includes a spare of those.

Re: Xantia key fob blade swap
Some of the 'replacement fobs' on Ebay may also be of use if needed. Although the quality and suitability of these is a bit of pot luck. It took several purchases for me to find a suitable case for my 106 fob as despite it being RF and sellers listed cases as that the electronics did not fit.
I did eventually get one that was right. To be fair the cheapness of the case prices meant even though I'd got a few different ones it was still a massive saving over the dealer price...
Its more a passing thought really don't overlook Ebay as a potential place to obtain a good Xantia key case, just a bit cautious as it seems sellers are not always aware of the changes in internal case design...

Re: Xantia key fob blade swap
Thanks all, after your info I managed to remove the key blade from the old fob and fit it to the new one and all seems good. Thanks again
