You thought the sphere would be flat to such an extent - that instead LHM would be filled in ?
It does in fact happen to Citroen spheres - but it's not a rule.
Even a weak pressure remaining would press out the LHM once the system is depressurised - i.e down to some 1-3bars. In functional terms such a sphere would be "completely flat" - but this pressure will still press the membrane against the LHM valve orifice.
Only if the "very" flat sphere is exposed to hydraulic pressure for longish - the membrane would tend to stick against the inner sphere wall at filler valve end.
In these cases the remaining gas pressure would be nil in "real" terms.
I've experienced various "degrees" of flat spheres.
The situation you expected with lots of LHM dripping out forever
- or a Tomcat exploding sphere releasing it's LHM content when removed - enough to wildly scare DIY working AndersDK [8D]
But also a seemingly functional sphere with no dripping and membrane still closing off the valve orifice.
Remember from a tyre with a standard inflation of approx 2bar - that this is in fact still a quite high pressure - but flat in terms of Citroen sphere function.
