how well does C matic work with GS/A flat 4?

Post by sonoramicommando »

I'm just curious to know how well it is matched to the GS/A engine.
My (limited) impression is that GS/A engines need to be worked hard at high revs to get it going but how do C matic owners find it?
Also, how does it compare to CX C matic, which has a bit more displacement on its side.
Cheers,
Sam

'Mothman' is the chap to ask, he has a 1980 GSA C-matic. Most engines are a bit sluggish below 2,000rpm, even my Skoda 1.3epi. But the GS engine that needs to be revved to keep her on the boil is the early 1015cc engine, don't think C-matic was an option on those.

Dear Sam,
I found the C-Matic s in the CX and the GSA s drove beautifully :) Both are geared superbly to their respective engines
My personal favourite to drive of all the Citroen models :)

Lots of 'crazy' cars have been built, but you will need a torque converter, gearbox, oil cooler, pressure distributor, inhibitor switch and relay.
Probably easier to find a C-matic. I'm sure it could be done though. All depends on your ability to source the parts, but it's not just a case of popping in a torque converter.

I don't know, I just thought there would be more GS/A's rusting beyond economical repair than due to mechanical reasons...

Really? Just emailed him yesterday for trim clips, got a reply back pronto: info@chevronics.co.uk
Phoning from NZ might be a touch pricey!
