Dreaded Alarms ( ZX Estate )

Post by gwoolie »

I know this is a common topic and im looking for a refresher.
Just bought a 97 ZX 1.9TD SX and the alarm keeps going off.
checked all the doors and all shut.
If I disable the interior sensors all is fine and dandy
So as long as we push the button on exit everyone can sleep well.
Any ideas? clean the sensors? check wires?
Can the alarm side be disabled completly apart by locking the car via the key??
It is an estate model and I know my Xantia caused some grief there when new !!
Cheers
Woolie

Replacing the interior sensors on Xantias seems to be curing a lot of people's problems. They are fairly inexpensive, just make sure you get a pair and not two for the same side.

If you look on the bonnet slam panel, behind the drivers side head lamp (uk spec - ie right hand drive) you should see a round plastic disk. Swivel this out of the way and there is a key slot underneath. Insert your ignition key and turn it. This then disables the alarm but still allows you to use the remote central locking.
