Hello to all again.
We bought another Citroen Xsara Estate this week - very cheap - phase 1 - 1.9td.
Buyer said he could not guarantee the engine because after his mechanic changed the accessory belt the engine clacked a bit.
We got it home, took the belt off , started the engine and it still clacked.
Took the timing apart, camshaft out by 1 tooth. Looks like his mechanic just blamed the accessory, even though he had done the timing too.
Tippex marks on the pulleys, so he had obviously not locked them.
Tmed it up properly and problem solved, plus new full timing kit and full accessory kit as the car had not been used since the problem occurred.
It has something funny with the lights though.
Front drivers sidelight and rear passengers tail-light not working (its LHD).
No power to either of them - this normally occurs when someone has bodged trailer lights, but no evidence of this.
All fuses ok, both in cockpit and engine bay.
Any ideas ?
Also, rev-counter not working - probably black sensor on top of gearbox.
Finally, low coolant level warning light above temp gauge is lit. Have checked coolant level and swapped sensor on expansion tank but still the same.
Is there another sensor somewhere for this ?
Thanks in advance.

If I remember right they are fused oppositely like this, if you are 100% the fuse is ok (should be under bonnet from memory) then check to see if you have a power supply to the fuse when the lights are switched on & take it from there.xsaras4ever wrote: It has something funny with the lights though.

Re: Citroen Xsara funny electrics
Super job Wheeler.
F4 in cockpit - fuse looked good but slight aluminum corrosion - replacement fuse - job done.
Kicking that we didn't spot it earlier ourselves.
Thanks again.
