Hi my xantia 1.9d Lucus Diesel pump has sprung a leak i can get it sorted for around $90 but need it off 1st is this somthing I could do or is this not recomended?

If you can change a cambelt I'd have thought you could get the pump off (in fact I think Wheeler said the pump sprocket was designed with 2 bolt holes in it so you could remove the pump without removing the cambelt). Scribe across the mounting and the pump so that you know where to put it back on, and be prepared for it to run a bit rough, and need a trip to a diesel specialist to properly reset the timing with a dial gauge afterwards.

Some pumps have self extractor on the pulley this will make it easier, if you dont have one on yours suggest looking in a breaker at BX diesels, two small bolts and you have a self removing pump pulley, mark the backplate so you can see where it was and put it back in the same position (I usually align em on the dirty mark)follow the book of lies and you cannot go far wrong! Be prepared to remove starter motor for access to timing hole behind there.

yeah,if you peg the pump pulley with both bolts you leave the timing belt in place & remove the pump.
