'06 C5 Estate central locking won't lock. Boot open light is on when driving.

Post by Gabe62 »

I have bought a 2006 2.2l C5 Diesel estate which has been poorly maintained, but which I think will be a great car once I do everything. My biggest problem right now is that when the car moves off the "Boot open" message appears. When I try to operate the central locking all I get is a quick "click, click" and nothing locks. I suspect that the problem lies in the tailgate.

I have had the panel off the tailgate and gone through the step for repairing the tailgate window latch switch with no success. To be honest I don't care if that window opens or not. But I would love to be able to lock the car. How likely is it that there is a broken wire in the tailgate loom? Any other suggestions?

I'm in the process of disposing of my "spare" 2002 C5 estate as I no longer need a donor car to keep the 2003 estate going. AFAIK the facelift estate uses the same back section as the earlier car so I may have what you want if you identify the part that needs replacing. You'll have to hurry though, it's going in a week or two at the most.
