2011 C5 Service schedule -Confused!!

Unread post by Sloppysod »

I have just given my C5 a small service, an oil change and Oil, Air, Fuel filters, cabin was do last year, and a quick check over, all went well apart from the fuel filter, pain or what unclipping the fuel lines, did not bother in the end. but that is not what this post is about.

Now after doing the above I decided to sort my service records out as I keep track of everything my car has had and when, SWMBO says I am an anorak when it comes to cars!
If you look here http://info.citroen.co.uk/finance-and-s ... -intervals it says that a 2008 - 06/2012, 2.0 Hdi Diesel has 12,500 miles or 2 years schedule, but when I reset the counter it says 20,000!!.
It does not matter that much as I change the oil in my cars every year, what ever Citroen say, as £30 year is a lot less than a new engine.

The question is hows right, the car or the website :?:

Just coincidental that 12,500 miles is 20,000kM so it looks like your service indicator is reading in kM not miles..... :-D

It's 20,500 Miles or sooner, 12,500 Miles under 'arduous' driving conditions. @ Electronmirror - It's not Kilometers in the UK! 'Arduous' is defined in The service manual as "continuous door to door use, urban use as in taxi or ambulance, repeated short journeys with a cold engine at low temps, extended use in: hot countries freq above 30 degrees, cold countries frequently below -15, dusty countries, countries where fuel does not meet Citroen recommendations.
Phew!!!

So what you have to watch is that your maintenance plan is set up right in Diagbox. This then determines the service interval when it is reset after a service. :-D

I reckon they've transposed the service intervals for the 1.6 diesel and the 2.0 diesel for the 2008-2012 MY cars. Service Citroen definitely gives a 20k/2 year interval for the 2.0 diesel on normal use.

It's under 'other vehicles, other engines' not specifically mentioned on page 10 and 11 of the service manual.

Did not get the lappy out this time so no Diagbox, I just reset the mileage by holding the '000' down and turning the ignition on, so you can set the service plan from Diagbox, I will have to look into that the next time I connect the car.
As for the service book, did not get one with the car, I had to use garage records to confirm mileage and service history, Citroen's fault, there is not somewhere to store the the owners books, I downloaded one, printed it and it lives in the boot!!

Mine lives in the glove box (or used to) but as that's all that I could fit in there it has now been stored in the house! I now keep the spare glasses in there and that's your lot!

I'm not sure, where I saw the maintenance plan now - I can't remember if it was under Maintenance and then Maintenance plan - or whether this was accessed under new vehicle delivery - but wasn't buried very deep as I recall. I moaned about this as I kept getting reminders from Citroen to book the car in for a service - and I kept telling them it wasn't due for another 10k miles! So next time I told them to update their records and the service interval to the correct value.

That's the way I used to do it on my 2003 C5. Fortunately I have the service book with my 2013 car so know what mileage it's done but I have just realised that my new car doesn't tell me how many miles to go until the next service like the old one did. Or does it and I just haven't noticed?

Paul, the display only functions for a few secs after the ignition is turned on and when there is less than 1900 miles to next service and again at less than 600 miles and is based on both time elapsed and distance covered since last service. Once you go past due, message is displayed telling you miles passed due date and the spanner stays lit at bottom of display.

Summarised above for those that don't have their handbooks handy!  but otherwise more details on page 37.

Incidentally, if you have an iPhone and want easy access to your C5 handbook, go here:
http://info.citroen.co.uk/assets/micros ... ndbook.pdf
Then when it downloads, tap near the top and it should say "open in" then choose "iBooks", then it will always be there on your iBooks app in future. It is easily searchable too. I'm sure something similar is available for those with Android or Windows phones, but couldn't tell you off hand.

I download one from the Citroen site and have it on the SD card of my Galaxy S4, and it is available offline.

That link opens fine on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with a pdf viewer installed...

Have they done away with the underseat trays on the later model.
When I can find my handbook it is often in the underseat tray.
