reprogramming plip

i have a citroen zsara year 98 i bought a new plip remote can you reprogramme it because citroen charges for this i have read how to reprogramme the plip on the xantia in these forums will the zsara be the same? thanks in advanced

The Xsara will be the same as the RF type Xantia plip.

I think having to pay for it is the only way. It needs there diagnostic tool to match the 'chip' in your key and 'plip' to the engine ECU. You should have a special 4 letter/number code that the car came with. This is needed by citroen to unlock the ECU. Citroen can get it if you do not have it but they can charge for that too, depending if they have to email citroen or not too get it!
