Belt change

Post by ohyes »

I'm about to change the main belt of the engine (I suppose it is called timing belt or?). In my case I have a Citroen C5 III with a 2.7 HDI engine. What else there's recommended to be changed?
When talking about the main belt change I mean the whole replacement kit (the belt itself with some parts needed to be replaced). The question came to my head because a guy told me that there's also a fuel pump belt :?: in the rear of the engine that is recommended to be changed aswell? Could that be true?

Thanks in advance :)

Have a look at c6owners.org, there's a few members over there who have done a step by step guide on changing the belts on their 2.7 C6's I believe.

From looking under the bonnet of our C5 and remember what my old C6 looks like it's all fairly similar. You might need to move something slightly differently but the engines are identical so the actual timing belt process will be the same :)

Yes it looks like there is a separate belt driving the HP pump on the other end of the engine. Changing the timing belt is booked at 5.5 hours, so it's a pretty big job! If you PM your e-mail address I'll send you the procedure. HP pump belt is only 0.6 hours, so it must be pretty easy...
