Good evening gentlemen,
After a couple of months looking I finally bought a new car a couple of weeks ago.
It's a C5 X7 Exclusive Tourer 160bhp HDi 2.0 auto (2010) and it's pretty damn lovely apart from the fact that the engine management light is now coming on.
I did 300 miles in it with no problems then the light started glaring at me.
I've had the codes read locally and the faults were P11B2 and P14A3 which I believe are related to the EGR valve. I had the faults cleared but they were back the following day (today).
So,I suppose the worst case scenario is a new EGR valve which doesn't look too ridiculously priced but what sort of job is it to fit one?
Has anybody done one?
Is there anything more simple/cheap I should look at first?

Re: C5 X7 EGR Problem?
I found these code references:
P11B2 Measurement of the position of the EGR exchanger by-pass : Short circuit to positive
P14A3 EGR exchanger bypass : Confirmed jammed open (hot side)
There appears to be a unit in front of the EGR module called an air metering unit, but I can't find it on the parts diagram...! I suspect those codes do refer to an internal function of the EGR module. Citroen say you shouldn't separate this module, as it's jig assembled and not doing so may result in stresses on the cylinder head. Book time to change it is just over 2 hours, so it's not that hard. Citroen want £413 for an early one or £570 for a later one....!!!!

Re: C5 X7 EGR Problem?
Well I've gone ahead and bought a new one.
I intend to keep the car for a good few years so it's probably a wise investment.
Managed to get a Valeo one for £207 (ish) from Amazon of all places.
Fingers crossed for an easy fitment and a dry day on Saturday (garage is currently full of dismembered 2cv and Beetle).

Thanks for the email Richard.
The information will come in very handy and will hopefully save me many, many swear words tomorrow.

Re: C5 X7 EGR Problem?
Well I did it and it wasn't too bad a job.
If it wasn't for one particular bolt that's almost completely inaccessible it would have been a dream.
As it was it took me over four hours and I'm two M30 Torx keys down. A good hour was spent on one bolt.
Hey-ho.

Re: C5 X7 EGR Problem?
I seem to have simylair problems, did the problem go away after you replaced that part.
I'm not sure if i can pick your brain on that fix, I'm tearing my hair out trying to fix the errors.
Cheers

Hi, did you solved this P11B2 error?

Re: C5 X7 EGR Problem?
Hi Slavakis,
Well I've never had a problem since replacing the EGR.
I've plugged it in many times since and I've never noticed this error reoccurring.
The old EGR wasn't all clogged up as I expected though. It was clean inside but the flap was sticking. I'm sure a bit of lubrication of some sort would have cured the problem but I'd already bought a new valve so I fitted it.
That was about 40,000 miles ago.
