Crack off xantia anti-sink sphere - Unpressurised, Yes?

Post by John Plum »

Although the rear spheres are best crack off 1/2 a turn or so whilst under pressure at high setting, I am guessing this method should not be applied to the rear antisink sphere, because the supply pipe needs to be detached first. Is that right?

Ditto.

Also, it's really worthwhile soaking the pipe going into the sphere with Plus Gas over a few days before attempting removal.

Excellent. Well, I got it off OK , and I had soaked it in plus gas for a few days (while I waited for arrival of a 3.5mm die for flare tool to tackle a supply pipe replacement). I think it made a great difference to have soaked it like that.

Then I found I'd been sent the wrong sphere! Put the old sphere back on! Huh… my fault for not checking before, sure… but gosh it's getting hard t get the right stuff supplied these days, sometimes. I've had a little run of that kind of thing. Still, she's up and running, having adapted a supply pipe with hybrid LDS and LHM unions.
