Xantia Boot Light - Tilt Switch

I've had a busy morning as well as getting on with my dash lights issues I took the time to find, remove, take apart (not so difficult, just fingers crossed that the plastic did not give way), clean, reassemble and reinstall the tilt switch. It still doesn't work.
As it appears that this is not an unusual occurence and that a direct replacemnt may not give much better results is there any practical advice as to what may be substituted please?

Any kind responses are asked to bear in mind that any parts required should ideally be avaiilable over the internet. Halfords or the equivalent are thin on the ground in N. Thailand.

Did you check that the switch itself worked while off the car?
If not a replacement shouldn't be to difficult to source but if it does then clearly the problem lies elsewhere, most probably the wiring between the car body and the hatch.

This is the first and cheapest in a very quick search

Theyre a sod. I took mine apart, had it working beautifully in my hand, screwed it on and the bugger stopped working. I've given up on it now!

Same story here - OK hooked up in the car port - nowt when stuck in the tailgate! I think I'll start looking the mercury way.

Fixed it! Took it apart again and recleaned the contact plate in the sidewall. Now works very satisfactorily. Next Job?
