Yes, that's true..

Just replaced the tensioner on Robyn's 207. Same sort of tensioner but the pin is about 5mm in diameter and a bit easier to get in and out due to it being that much meatier... Same double spanner trick needed to do it though...

Ok, bit confused here...!

The guy who did mine didn't use a pin, as far as I'm aware - he just moved tensioner back with the spanner/tool, looped belt off pulleys, released tension, did the alternator, used tool again to move back tensioner, put belt back on pulleys, release... good to go?

Why do you need the pin - or should I anticipate some disaster about to happen as he didn't?

The pin just locks the tensioner back into the fully retracted position and that makes it easy to fit the belt.. Otherwise you need one hand on the long spanners to hold the tensioner retracted whilst you use your remaining hand to fit the belt; a bit like juggling under tension

Ah, that explains why he said 'just stick the belt back on while I keep the tension off' then!

He replaced the pin, in effect while I put the belt back on the pulleys!

Good stuff. Thanks all.

They are playing some very fine and entertaining football that is for sure (this season). Their dissection of Man City was superb.
