engine block pics

Unread post by lexi »

Any one got some pics of the 110 hdi 2 litre engine? Stripped of front ancillary's.
I have lost a 10 mm long socket down a gap in engine. It is where the oil filter is, towards the alternator.
I don't know where that leads to, but it is rather close to my timing belt area for my liking. I have stripped the undertray and inner wing shield. It is nowhere to be seen around the alternator or crank pulley area.
I can't remember the detail of cam belt behind the covers but I don't want anything getting in there, as I have renewed all that. There may be a web in engine block behind alternator that it is nestling in, but I would need to see a strip down detail. Haynes pictures are pants and Cit service is no use either.

It shouldnt get into the belt Area as the cover does COVER the belt area completely. Its likely to have landed on the air con compressor, between the top rear and front of the sump lip....

I think you are right Paul. I found this pic http://reallymeansounds.com/forum/threa ... hp.144261/

It went in the gap at about 11 o' clock above centre of oil filter. It will be in a web of block or maybe where you suggest. It can stay there, less it rattles. I had hold of it with a 12" set of forceps down there, then it slipped out of sight. It is inconvenient that chrome sockets are non magnetic . Memo for future is plug that bit with a rag. I was only changing heater plugs

Beat me to it Citroenxm, chrome sockets are magnetic. I just get a flexi magnet and waft it around the engine bay until something sticks. It's amazing what things get picked up 1st time you do it on a car new to you.

You are correct of course guys. It is 316 stainless I am thinking of. Memory mist is descending. I could have had that socket with my array of magnets, before it jumped out of my long forceps. It is not rattling down there, so can stay meanwhile.

I won two small screw drivers and a brand new snap-on 13mm socket when I stripped the green V6 :)
