Hi guys,
Got a noisy fan belt on start up until its warmed up.Its a new belt but I do remember it was very tight to get on the pulleys, like it was too short.Got it from motor factors and I have heard elsewhere on the net that its better to obtain the belt from dealers.
Any advice welcome.
Thanks in advance
Danny

Re: ZX Noisy fan belt
If you can twist the belt from the horizontal to 90 deg quite easily, then it should have enough slack. Are you saying that you cannot slacken it any?
I think if you got it on over the pulleys, it would be hard to imagine that being too tight.
There is a specific length for your belt, which can be found on DAYCO site. Once you have that length, you can buy a Dayco or Gates belt any where,
You could also have worn tensioners or alternator belt pulley but check belt type first.

What sort of noise? And is it the belt rather than something it goes round. Fitting a new (tighter) belt can sometimes show up failing bearings in something it goes round/ drives.dannyboy84 wrote:Hi guys,

Re: ZX Noisy fan belt
I fitted the right belt to my 206 and it killed off the tensioner that was on its last legs
